School Refusal Program For Teens: Ages 13-18

Program Overview

AIGAS offers specialized services to support adolescents struggling with Mood and anxiety symptoms that often manifest as school-refusal behavior. These services aim to provide short-term stabilization for individuals enrolled in our AIGAS Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program.

School refusal behavior may manifest in various ways, such as frequent complaints of feeling unwell with symptoms like stomachaches, sore throats, or headaches, particularly in the morning. These complaints often subside when the adolescent is allowed to stay home but may reoccur the next day.

Additionally, adolescents may employ tactics like requesting visits to the nurse’s office, arriving late or not at all, or being absent on days with activities that trigger performance anxiety, such as presentations or sports events.

Our approach involves evidence-based treatments designed to equip patients with the strategies necessary to effectively manage Mood and anxiety symptoms, enabling them to overcome daily stressors and successfully return to the classroom.

Fresh Start Outpatient Program

Welcome to AIGAS’s Fresh Start Outpatient Program! We understand that navigating the challenges of school refusal can be tough for adolescents dealing with Mood and anxiety symptoms.

School refusal behaviors can manifest as frequent complaints of illness like stomach aches, sore throats, or headaches, particularly upon waking up. These complaints often subside when the adolescent stays at home, only to reappear the next morning. Students may also employ tactics like frequent visits to the nurse’s office, arriving late or not at all, or strategically being absent on days that trigger performance anxiety, such as test days or events requiring presentations or sports participation.

At AIGAS, we utilize evidence-based treatments to empower our patients to overcome Mood and anxiety symptoms, enabling their successful return to the classroom. Our Fresh Start Outpatient Program provides adolescents with the strategies they need to effectively manage daily stressors and embrace a renewed sense of confidence in their academic journey.
