Program for Mental Health and Substance Use

Program Overview

AIGAS designed the Mental Health and Substance Use Intensive Outpatient (IOP) Programs for individuals aged 23 and above, providing crucial support for those contending with mental health symptoms and substance use challenges. Rooted in evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and motivational interviewing (MI), the program aims to empower individuals to achieve their treatment goals. AIGAS employs a flexible range of approaches, from harm reduction to abstinence and medication-assisted treatments (Suboxone, Vivitrol, Naltrexone), tailored to each individual’s needs and concurrent mental health symptoms. The overarching goal is to foster a comprehensive understanding of the interplay between mental health and substance use.

Individuals in this program engage in regular meetings with a psychiatrist or psychiatric nurse practitioner 1-3 times weekly, along with weekly sessions with a master’s level clinician and/or Certified Alcohol and Other Drug Counselor (CADC). Strong encouragement is given for weekly family therapy sessions with a parent, spouse, or identified support person, and urine drug screen monitoring is a required component as recommended by the treatment team.
